About Us

The Eastern Iowa Young Farmers Coalition is a group of farmers and consumers. We champion the collective interests of young and beginning farmers throughout the state of Iowa. Iowa is a state with a long agricultural history and rich soil-- a perfect ground to grow young farmers. However, our state’s social and political landscape and food system do not make it easy for young farmers to get started or continue farming, and it is the focus of EIYFC to grow our own successful businesses and support our peers through policy and community change.

Our Eastern Iowa chapter began in 2017 with a small number of dedicated young farmers, and since we have grown in our numbers and capacity! This year we are excited to follow up on policy strides we made last year, and get more young farmers involved! We are advocating for change that would benefit young farmers, regardless of what crops they grow or how big their farm is.
